Dan is currently a second-year Graphic Design student at Nottingham Trent University. He approached us to gain some industry experience, having been inspired by the Jackson-Crane Architecture branding and website that Studio Seventeen designed and developed.
After showing us his portfolio, Studio Seventeen were pleased to offer him some work experience in-between his busy schedule, and he’s been a great fit for our studio and has grown as a designer in just a few weeks. Below are some interesting facts about him and why he chose Studio Seventeen.
Describe yourself in a sentence

Describe your practice
I specialise in brand identity design and logo creation. Due to this I also enjoy working on a range of editorial, packaging and advertisement design.
How did you get into design?
From a young age, I’ve been quite creative. I first discovered graphic design in school where I was introduced to analogue and digital design. I then spent three years studying at college developing my skills. During this time, I found my interest in graphic design started to grow, and I still have the same enthusiasm towards design today.
Why Studio Seventeen?
I was instantly drawn to Studio Seventeen’s design style and work ethic. The company is a creative and inspiring place to work, hosting an amazing studio space with approachable and friendly designers. I was drawn to their work as soon as I found them and took a direct interest to their branding-based projects!
Hobbies and interests
I enjoy reading books and discovering the lives of others through biographies. In my spare time, I focus on fitness and working on personal projects. When I get the chance I like to go drinking with friends and in the summer I enjoy camping, alongside a variety of sports!

I’ve always been interested in sports and over the years I’ve tried a wide variety including Karate, Archery, Kayaking, Swimming, Thai Boxing and many more.
My favourite colour has always been Turquoise.
How would you describe the colour pink to an alien from a colourless planet?
Falling onto a cloud of candy floss covered in childhood sweets.
This is important – which Hogwarts house are you in?
Gryffindor of course! Although I’ve been told Slytherin before…
What album would you put on our jukebox?
I like every genre of music so picking a favourite album to add is difficult, but I’m currently listening to Indie more than anything so I’d add The Amazons – The Amazons (Deluxe) album!
