We did it! It’s the end of another year at Studio Seventeen, and we’re all ready to close up shop for the Christmas break.
This year, we’ve been through the highs and lows of working as an agency in 2022, and have witnessed some truly historical events right on our doorstep. It’s not been an easy year for many, so for our final blog post of the year, we wanted to share something a little bit uplifting and inspiring to get us through to 2023!
We’ve asked each member of Studio Seventeen to give us a rundown of some of their favourite in-office moments, project highlights and personal achievements from the past twelve months. From our creative director goibg wild camping to our Grads4Nottm team shooting an incredible video to promote our business, there’s a lot to get through – so let’s get started!
Gareth Roberts, Director
One word to sum up 2022: Gritty
Your project highlight from the past year: Too many! The new Nottingham City Guitars rebuild was very cool and enjoyable to work on. The Trent Rivers Trust project was very insightful and I felt we pushed ourselves as a team with this one. However, I’d have to say, reworking our own website and achieving an outstanding score for performance, accessibility, SEO and good practice is something to be very proud of.
A personal development you’ve achieved this year: Strengthening my leadership skills. This has boosted my self-confidence and my vision for the future is now a whole lot clearer! Oh yes… wild camping in Scotland was an experience.
Your favourite moment from within the studio: I think Grads4Nottm was a high point. One of the Grads (Anje) was petrified of dogs and she met Sonny on her first visit. By the end of the week she couldn’t leave him alone! It was a fun two weeks with lots of laughs.
Your lowest moment in the studio: Leaving for work and the weather app said there was a 10% chance of a shower. 10 minutes in to my 40 minute walk I was in a heavy rainstorm that got worse and worse all the way to work. Even with a raincoat on I was 100% wet. Every single piece of clothing was drenched. If you had dunked me in the ocean I wouldn’t have been as wet as this. This was a low point.
A team member you think has excelled this year: Everyone works hard in the studio and I’m proud of everyone’s achievements. However, Rebecca has made huge improvements to both client websites and our own website in terms of SEO. This takes a lot of time and determination and the results are very impressive. Well done to everyone… and Sonny too.

One word to sum up 2022: Productive.
Your project highlight from the past year: Trent Rivers Trust. This was a great project to work with to update their branding and create a new website that reflects the quality of work the organisation does for our rivers. It was great to be able to implement our sustainable web strategy and ensure that the website was green and accessible.
A personal development you’ve achieved this year: Climbing Scaffell Pike, learning to throw a pot and knitting my first jumper.
Your favourite moment from within the studio: Rebecca’s presentation on how to spot a Karen.
Your lowest moment in the studio: As above.
A team member you think has excelled this year: Rebecca has worked hard to learn new technical web development skills. She has also researched and optimised the keywords for many of our client websites – including the SEO for our own website!
Rebecca Jones, Digital Creative
One word to sum up 2022: Fulfilling.
Your project highlight from the past year: Refreshing the Studio Seventeen website. After spending lots of time on client projects, it was rewarding to be able to use the skills I’ve developed over the past 2 years to contribute toward the development of our own website!
A personal development you’ve achieved this year: Developing my technical and SEO skills, and being able to see the real impact that my work has had for our clients, through improved web design and increased search results. I’ve also been teaching myself lots of different skills this year, including how to knit!
Your favourite moment from within the studio: Making everyone cry with laughter during my ‘Karen’ presentation.
Your lowest moment in the studio: When the Scissor Sisters got banned from Spotify.
A team member you think has excelled this year: Nikki – for stepping up to become our Marketing Executive and consistently being the most organised social media person in the world.
Nikki McCaig, Marketing Executive
One word to sum up 2022: Memorable.
Your project highlight from the past year: It’s been great getting to work on the Nottingham City Guitars site, and see the changes a refreshed brand and some new imagery can make!
A personal achievement from the year: This year, I completed a Project Management course with Nottingham College and received a Level 3 ILM Award! (I also survived moving house at the start of the year and taught myself embroidery!)
Your favourite moment from within the studio: Watching Rebecca make Gareth laugh so hard he cried in a meeting.
Your lowest moment in the studio: When the door to the kitchen got stuck and we couldn’t get to the coffee machine 😭
A team member you think has excelled this year: Gareth, for keeping us all motivated, productive and ready to work every single day!
